Job Description

St. Thomas Aquinas Academy President / Secondary Principal

STAA President is appointed by the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees to lead STAA as a ministry of the Catholic Church. STAA President has overall responsibility for leadership of STAA spiritual and academic mission. STAA President is the institutional spokesperson representing STAA to internal and external community groups.
Secondary Principal fulfills the mission of STAA Middle/High School by serving as spiritual, academic, and managerial leader of the school. The principal is responsible for professional effectiveness of staff, academic performance of students, spiritual formation of staff and students, and building relationships within the school community.
STAA President/Secondary Principal reports to STAA Board of Trustees and Board of Directors and fulfills duties in accordance with National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools, in areas of Catholic Identity and Mission, Academic Excellence, Governance and Leadership, and Operational Vitality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mission and Catholic Identity
Ensure Catholic culture of inviting young people to deepen their personal relationship with Jesus, welcoming young people into the life of the Church, and assisting young people to see and understand the role of faith in one's own life and larger society.
• Articulate and implement Catholic mission and vision for STAA.
• Inspire and create safe Catholic environments which ignite the passions of faculty, staff, and students, unifying them in meaningful achievement.
• Model and support Roman Catholic Identity and charisms of Catholic Church.
• Monitor the expression of Catholic Identity, including selection of personnel.
• Ensure strong, professional, Christian, collaborative student-family and community relations.
• Make ethical decisions based upon teachings of Catholic Church.
• Act as STAA Catholic Schools liaison with Diocese of Green Bay.

Academic Excellence
Ensure STAA curricular and extracurricular experiences are rigorous, research-based, relevant, inclusive, global, innovative, rooted in Catholic faith and traditions, and in alignment with Board of Trustees, Board of Directors (Corporate Board), Diocese of Green Bay, and Catholic Church. Ensure analysis of student performance data informs decision-making about student and faculty learning/growth. Ensure standards, curriculum, and resources meet diversity of learning needs of all PreK-12 students through collaboration with and support of faculty.

Governance and Leadership
Ensure key components of effective governance, which provides direction or authority, and leadership, which ensures effective operations.
• Administrative Leadership
o Appoint and evaluate Elementary School Principal/Director of Learning, Business Manager, and office staff.
o Approve all contracts for administrators and teachers and oversee principal evaluation of faculty and staff.
o Develop a team of effective leaders responsible for supporting and implementing STAA spiritual and academic vision and mission, marketing, admissions, and advancement.
• Board Leadership
o Assist in governance of STAA by collaborating with STAA Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, and Board of Trustees Chairperson, and presenting appropriate policy issues, reports, and items for approval to STAA Board of Trustees and Board of Directors. Serves on appropriate committees of STAA Board of Trustees as an ex-officio voting member.
o Oversee accreditation, endorsement, and review processes of schools.

Operational Vitality
Ensure successful operations in four areas as chief executive officer: finance, facilities, human resources/personnel, and institutional advancement.
• Collaborate with STAA leaders of Finance, Advancement, Enrollment Management, and Endowment Board and STAA community to provide resources for STAA.
• Encourage benefactors to support STAA, including annual contributions, special projects and capital campaigns, endowed giving, planned giving, and restricted tuition assistance gifts.
• Develop and oversee annual budgets in collaboration with STAA finance office, Boards, and parishes.
• Ensure school facilities' safety and security, promote safety on school campuses, and minimize liability and risk.
• Ensure professional quality, behavior, and development of faculty and staff.
• Oversee maintenance of STAA buildings and grounds.
• Collaborate and ensure compliance with the Diocese of Green Bay and Catholic Church.

REQUIREMENTS:
Practicing Catholic in Good Standing with Catholic Church
Master's Degree - Educational Administration (current license or demonstrated progress/plan toward)
At least 3 years teaching experience
At least 3 years of administrative experience
Demonstrated leadership skills
Knowledge of professional development for staff
Strong moral character
