Full-Time Assistant Principal Job Description:Cathedral High School is a Catholic diocesan high school of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter located in Houston, Texas. Opened in August 2022, we are a growing high school seeking an organized, joyful, and dynamic individual to serve as assistant principal.
As an Ordinariate school our classical, liberal arts curriculum is structured around the four pillars of Sacred Worship, Sacred Wisdom, Sacred Music, and Sacred Art. Accordingly, our faculty and staff understand the unity of truth and are able to situate their course material within the Western tradition in unison with the rest of the curriculum, at the service of a life of faith, and for the cultivation of virtue. Applicants should be knowledgeable and enthusiastic, capable communicators and well-organized.
Applicants should possess a graduate degree in Educational Administration or School Leadership and meet the requirements for a high school administrator in the state of Texas. Preference will go to applicants with a background in classical/liberal arts school leadership. A background in and understanding of the liberal arts tradition is required for the position. Applicants should possess both the ability and the desire to mentor young people. All faculty are expected to live a faithful Christian life, attend daily Mass with the students, and sign an oath of fidelity.
Essential responsibilities:
Catholic School Culture - collaborate with the Head of School and chaplain to promote and foster a culture of joy and wonder through prayer and study. The Assistant Principal will exemplify joyful and professional leadership by maintaining a visible presence in daily school life, fostering meaningful relationships.
School Leadership and Operations - collaborate with the Head of School and administrative team in the daily operations of the school, including procedures, attendance, events, discipline, and the House System. The Assistant Principal will assist the Head of School in representing Cathedral High School to current and prospective families, benefactors, and the wider community.
Curriculum and Instructional Support - collaborate with the Head of School, Director of Learning Enrichment, and department chairs to continue to develop and review the Catholic liberal arts curriculum of Cathedral High School, providing coaching and instructional support to faculty, organizing formation and professional development, and coordinating dual-credit programs.
This full-time position requires previous experience in high school administration. Salary is commensurate with experience.
