Vice Principal PositionSt. Joseph Academy
Overview
St. Joseph Academy, a classical education institution (TK-12) dedicated to forming virtuous scholars through rigorous academics centered on combining faith, reason, and Catholic principles (https://www.sjaclassical.org/), seeks a mission-driven. Vice Principal. This multi-faceted senior leadership role serves as a thought partner to the President and leadership team, ensuring operational excellence, student success, and alignment with the school's classical education mission.
Primary Responsibilities
The Vice Principal will:
• Oversee Student Discipline and Success:
• Manage student discipline and behavior, fostering a culture of respect and virtue.
• Implement and enforce school policies consistently and fairly.
• Monitor attendance, address truancy, and promote regular engagement.
• Support student achievement through data analysis and targeted interventions.
• Lead Teacher Management:
• Supervise the Director of Elementary Teachers, Director of Middle School Teachers, and Director of High School Teachers.
• Support the President in daily school operations, ensuring smooth execution of academic and administrative functions.
• Facilitate teacher and staff evaluations, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance.
• Provide Instructional Leadership:
• Observe classroom instruction and offer actionable feedback to improve teaching quality.
• Facilitate training and professional development focused on classical education pedagogy and best practices.
• Support the implementation of curriculum standards rooted in classical liberal arts.
• Collaborate on school improvement initiatives to elevate academic outcomes.
• Engage with Stakeholders:
• Communicate school policies, events, and updates to families.
• Address parent concerns and complaints with professionalism and empathy.
• Participate in hiring processes, contributing to the recruitment of mission-aligned staff.
• Analyze and Act on Data:
• Analyze student achievement data to inform instructional strategies and interventions.
• Collaborate with leadership to set and achieve academic goals.
Optional Responsibilities
Based on the candidate's skills, interests, and capacity, the role may include:
• Managing and liaising with the Parent Teacher Association to strengthen community ties.
• Overseeing the Athletics Director to support extracurricular programs.
• Collaborating with the Accreditation Liaison on academic goals and learning outcomes.
• Coordinating professional development opportunities to enhance staff expertise.
• Teaching part-time in a subject area aligned with the candidate's expertise.
• Providing leadership input on campus ministry and retreat efforts to nurture spiritual growth.
• Assisting the Learning Center lead with counseling or administrative support for student needs.
Qualifications
• Advanced degree in education, administration, or related field preferred.
• Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, preferably in classical or Catholic education.
• Strong understanding of classical education principles and pedagogy.
• Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze data and implement evidence-based strategies.
• Commitment to the mission and values of St. Joseph's Academy.
