Job Description
Develop and implement religious education curricula for grades 1-8, including sacramental preparation programs and sacramental retreat programs. At St. Gregory the Great, we use the curriculum program from Loyola Press called Finding God and the program called "Edge" for grades 6-8 from Lifeteen.Coordinate and oversee religious education programs and activities, including monthly family Masses, holiday programs, retreats, confession for grades 3-8, Adoration for grades 6-8 and Stations of the Cross for all grades. Meet with our pastor, Fr. Joseph Tierney, to formulate the year's calendar of events and to keep him abreast of any news and concerns.
Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists and volunteer staff.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding program updates and student progress, and promote religious education within the community.
Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of religious education programs and provide resources for families to foster religious education at home.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and other relevant data.
Provide leadership and mentorship to catechists and other staff members.
Class Meeting Days and Times:
Grades 1 and 2: Thursdays, 3:30-4:45
Grades 3 and 4: Wednesdays, 3:30-4:45
Grades 5 and 6: Tuesdays 3:30-4:45
Grades 7 and 8: Thursdays 7:00 pm-8:15 pm
