Job Description
Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish (Near Sewickley, PA)Pastoral Associate Position
Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Pastoral Associate. Saint Luke is a vibrant and growing Catholic community which serves two campuses-Saints John & Paul in Franklin Park, and Good Samaritan in Ambridge. The parish has over 4,000 families, including an expanding Latino faith community.
Reporting directly to the Pastor, the Pastoral Associate will work collaboratively with the Pastoral Council and parish leadership, including the Finance and Human Resource Directors. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating parish events (liturgical and social), overseeing outreach programs and ministries, and managing complex scheduling needs. Candidates MUST have excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to support strategic planning efforts and scheduling across both parish campuses. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus, but not required.
Skills and Education
o Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, and committed to
the teachings and mission of the Church.
o Bachelor's degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies, or a related field
required; Master's degree preferred.
o 3-5 years of experience managing parish or organizational
programs, including staff and volunteer supervision.
o Prefer experience in various aspects of parish life, such as liturgy,
adult catechesis, religious education, evangelization, social outreach.
o Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage teams effectively.
o Strong technical skills preferred, including familiarity with Microsoft
Office, PDS, Flocknote, and scheduling tools.
o Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Pastoral Responsibilities
o Collaborate with the Pastor, Leadership Team, and Pastoral Council
to develop and implement strategic parish initiatives.
o Support the ongoing formation and professional development of
parish staff, ministry leaders, and parish groups.
o Oversee specific parish programs and ministries.
o Possess understanding of Catholic liturgy and experience with faith
formation programming.
o Work with staff and volunteers to plan and execute parish-wide
events such as outreach initiatives, ministry programs, and
occasional fundraising events.
