Job Description

Director of Discipleship
St. Thomas More Church - Munster, IN
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Catholic disciple to serve as the Director of Discipleship, responsible for overseeing the spiritual formation and discipleship efforts of our parish. This individual will play a key leadership role in guiding parishioners-new and existing-on their faith journey, helping them grow as missionary disciples through worship, growth, and service to God.
The Director of collaborates closely with the Pastor, Director of Ministries and Communication, and other staff and volunteer leaders to develop and implement a comprehensive vision for evangelization, formation, and community engagement across all adult and youth ministries.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
• Partner with parish leadership to discern and implement a unified vision for discipleship and evangelization.
• Design and execute initiatives that foster spiritual growth, form disciples, and inspire active witness and leadership.
• Develop and oversee a process for welcoming, integrating, and engaging new parishioners.
Discipleship Formation
• Collaborate with the Education Commission to plan and promote retreats, workshops, prayer groups, and study programs for adult, young adult, high school, and middle school discipleship.
• Develop a gift discernment program helping parishioners identify, develop and then put into action their spiritual gifts.
• Support and implement initiatives like Alpha or The Rescue Project, and other parish-wide faith-building efforts.
Small Groups & Community Building
• Launch and sustain a vibrant small or connect group ministry.
• Recruit, equip, and support small group leaders and committee members.
• Ensure new and existing parishioners are connected to groups and thriving in community life.
Leadership Development
• Identify, mentor, and empower parishioners for leadership roles in ministry.
• Provide ongoing support and spiritual formation for current and emerging leaders.
New Parishioners
• Develop a new parishioner welcome program, working with the chairperson to form a new committee and process

Evangelization & Engagement
• Develop strategies to reach out to active, inactive, and non-engaged parishioners.
• Leverage digital tools, social media, and creative communication to inspire participation.
• Foster an inclusive environment where individuals of all backgrounds are welcomed and supported.
Operational Oversight
• Serve as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Ministry Platform, managing parishioner engagement data, milestones, and communications.
• Maintain accurate records and budgets related to discipleship programs.
• Participate actively in parish life and staff collaboration.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding and full support of Church teachings and mission.
• Master's Degree in Pastoral Studies, Theology, Evangelization, or Faith Formation preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in ministry leadership or discipleship roles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media tools is a plus.
• Quick to adapt to evolving tech platforms i.e. Ministry Platform.

Additional Requirements
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as ministry needs dictate.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform light physical tasks as needed (reasonable accommodations can be made).
