Director of Discipleship

Job Description

Saint Raphael the Archangel Parish in Louisville, Kentucky seeks an energetic, collaborative, devoted disciple of Jesus Christ to join our team as Director of Discipleship. With a mission field of the parish itself, this minister's work will engage all ages in programs and experiences which allow them to first encounter Christ, and enter into new or renewed relationship with him. They will then provide for ongoing catechesis, faith formation, and discipleship development. The successful candidate will be an active, engaged, and practicing Catholic, with previous experience in ministry, leadership, and volunteer recruitment and management.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Parish Leadership to discern and implement a vision for discipleship across the parish.
- Develop strategies and implement programming and experiences to engage active and inactive parishioners, the disaffiliated, and school ministry families in deepening their relationship with Christ and growing as disciples.
- Oversee sacramental preparation for children (those enrolled and not enrolled in the parish school ministry).
- Implement and oversee opportunities for engaging, enriching, and faithful catechesis for young adults and adults.
- Recruit, form, equip, and supervise volunteers for ministries that fall under this position.

Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic who understands, supports, and lives out the teachings of the Catholic Church, and is driven by furthering the mission of the Church.
- 2-5 years' experience in ministry, leadership, formation, etc.
- Possession of a Theology Degree is not required for this position; however, candidates should possess knowledge of the teachings of the Church, and participate in their own ongoing formation.
- Proficiency in social media and computer programs.
- Ability to build strong relationships across generations, cultures, groups, etc. within a parish setting.
- Strong project and volunteer management skills.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
- Collaborative, flexible, team-player.
- Adaptable, and ability to manage several projects / programs at once.
- Must maintain confidentiality of information.
