About the RoleThe Roman Catholic Diocese of San Angelo is seeking a visionary and spiritually grounded leader to serve as the Director of Christ the King Retreat Center (CKRC).
The Director provides strategic and operational leadership, ensuring that CKRC remains a sacred sanctuary for encounter with Christ. This role balances the "grace-filled hospitality" of a spiritual retreat center with the rigorous administrative, financial, and personnel management required for long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Spiritual Leadership & Mission
Maintain and promote the center's Catholic identity and charism.
Ensure all retreat programming aligns with the Catholic liturgical cycle and Church teachings.
Foster a welcoming environment for all guests, staff, and volunteers.
2. Operational & Facility Oversight
Direct daily operations, including housekeeping, food services, and office administration.
Manage facility maintenance and capital improvements for buildings and grounds.
Ensure strict compliance with safety, health, and diocesan regulations.
3. Program & Event Coordination
Develop the annual retreat calendar (sponsored, hosted, and private retreats).
Recruit and contract spiritual directors, speakers, and facilitators.
Manage guest registration, contracts, and correspondence.
4. Financial Stewardship & Vendor Management
Budgeting: Develop the annual operating budget and monitor departmental spending.
Analysis: Analyze monthly financial reports, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions.
Procurement: Source and evaluate third-party vendors, negotiating service contracts to ensure high-quality delivery and cost-competitiveness.
Internal Controls: Maintain rigorous controls for guest fees and onsite revenue to ensure transparency.
5. Personnel & Marketing
Supervise, hire, and train a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
Develop and execute marketing strategies across social media, web, and parish outreach to increase center utilization.
Qualifications
Faith: Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Theology, or Hospitality (Master's preferred).
Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience in a retreat, non-profit, or hospitality setting.
Technical Skills: * Proven experience in contract negotiation and managing vendor relationships (SLAs).
Demonstrated ability to interpret financial statements and manage departmental budgets.
Proficiency in Excel, procurement software, or Property Management Systems (PMS).
Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to act as a liaison between on-site operations and the central Finance Department.
Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to work flexible hours, including frequent weekends and evenings.
Physical ability to traverse uneven terrain across the retreat grounds.
