Description
Location: Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Windsor, CO
Position: Full-Time | Ministry Staff

Position Overview
The Director of Marriage and Family Life at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church is responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting programs to strengthen sacramental preparation for couples, enrich married life, and foster a vibrant parish community. This role provides a comprehensive ministry to couples and families for marriage preparation, for convalidations, and for baptism preparation in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. This role is supported by parish clergy and staff, and reports to the Director of Parish Faith Formation.

Responsibilities: Marriage Preparation
Serve as the first point of contact for engaged couples interested in preparing for marriage.
Guide couples through the full marriage preparation process including Archdiocesan paperwork, Fully Engaged or equivalent inventories, Natural Family Planning (NFP) instruction, pairing with a Mentor Couple when applicable, and parish-specific requirements.
Maintain accurate records and timely communication to ensure all requirements are completed two months prior to the wedding date. Schedule rehearsals and weddings on the parish calendar.
Provide oversight and support for Wedding Coordinators who assist with rehearsals and wedding day ceremonies.
Provide Wedding Coordinators with a complete file for each couple the month of the wedding, inclusive of liturgical details such as reading selections, music selections, and clergy requirements. The coordinator will use this file to prepare for the rehearsal and wedding day ceremony.
Provide support and accommodation planning for receptions that are held at the parish with our Reception Coordinator.
Ensure that the couple's wedding license is sent to the County of Record (Weld or Larimer) the Monday immediately after the wedding.
Ensure that parish staff have the information necessary to record the wedding in the appropriate Parish Sacramental Register.
Willingness to assist with other duties as assigned.

Marriage Preparation Retreat
Coordinate and facilitate (2) Marriage Preparation Retreats at the parish each year - one in the fall and one in the spring - in collaboration with clergy, speakers, mentor couples, and participants. The format of this retreat is already structured to cover important areas of formation, so the primary effort needed year over year involves logistical planning, speaker and volunteer coordination, hospitality, and implementation of the retreat.

Mentor Couples
Strengthen and expand the OLV Mentor Couple program by recruiting, training, and providing ongoing formation opportunities for mentors to ensure quality and consistent communication.
Provide oversight and support for our mentor couples who are actively walking with our engaged couples.

Convalidations
Serve as the point of contact for adults within the parish, and those in OCIA, who need convalidation for their marriage.
Guide couples through the full convalidation process, including Archdiocesan paperwork and parish-specific requirements.
Maintain accurate records and timely communication to ensure all requirements are completed prior to the convalidation date. Schedule convalidations on the parish calendar.
Provide oversight and support for couples and clergy involved with the convalidation.

Annulments
The Annulment Advocate at OLV accompanies parishioners through the annulment process with compassion, clarity, and care. This individual serves as the primary liaison with the Archdiocesan Tribunal, helping prepare and submit required documentation while maintaining confidentiality. Candidates must be willing to be trained as an annulment advocate to better understand the annulment process, and in time prepare to become a primary advocate.

Responsibilities: Baptism Preparation
Serve as the first point of contact for parents interested in having children under the age of seven baptized.
Guide parents through the baptism preparation process including paperwork, godparent forms, baptism classes for both parents and godparents, and other parish-specific requirements.
Coordinate and schedule regular baptism classes monthly with clergy.
Maintain accurate records and timely communication to ensure all requirements are completed prior to the baptism date.
Schedule baptisms on the parish calendar and assign a baptism coordinator if applicable for visiting clergy.
Prepare required liturgical items for each baptism - ensuring that we have baptismal candles, baptismal gowns, towels, baptismal certificates, and other items ready in advance.
Complete Baptism Certificates and ensure that parish staff can record baptisms in the appropriate Parish Sacramental Register.

Responsibilities: Young Adult Outreach
There are more young adults arriving at OLV seeking community, friendship, and guidance into the early stages of adulthood. It is our desire that this role can help with outreach by coordinating monthly events (i.e. Pub Trivia Night, Theology on Tap, Social Evening, Adoration Night, invitations to Donut Sundays, invitations to Parish Small Groups, invitations to Third Thursday Couple Dinners, invitations to Windsor's Concert in the Park series, etc.) which provide an opportunity for young adults to make meaningful connections within the parish community. This role will also help coordinate and host events for newly married couples to support continued faith formation and community building (i.e. monthly potlucks, small group studies, retreats, and social gatherings). Engaging our parish hospitality ministry and other volunteers to help with these events is encouraged.
