Position Title: Director of ProgrammingReports To: Vice President of Mission Advancement
Supervises: Select Vendors/Subcontractors, Speakers, and Staff (when hired)
Location: Fully Remote
Position Summary:
This position will play a key role in developing and managing the programming for the 11th National Eucharistic Congress under the leadership of the Vice President of Mission Advancement. An essential part of this role will be fostering and managing relationships, navigating unique pastoral dynamics, ensuring diversity without sacrificing quality, and maintaining creativity and continuity throughout event programming. This role also oversees content development and execution to fan the flames of revival between Congress events. As part of a small team in a start-up environment with a national reputation, this role will require a highly motivated, flexible, and team-oriented individual.
Essential Job Functions:
Collaborate with executive leadership to develop programming for the 11th National Eucharistic Congress while stewarding the teaching direction and vision of the US Bishops.
Invite and host key partners at in-person content development meetings to ensure diversity of thought and vision for programming and content.
Create Congress programming outline and theme documents.
Create run of show with production team to ensure creative vision is executed before and during event.
Oversee all creative elements related to programming, including but not limited to content videos, stage design, and testimonials.
Lead vetting and selection process for event experiences and creative programming ideas.
Invite speakers, manage and oversee speaker negotiations and contracts, and ensure clear communication prior to and throughout event.
Vet all talks, speakers, testimonials, and breakouts to ensure quality and alignment with overall NEC vision.
Oversee Congress music director to ensure alignment and execution concerning quality, diversity, and worship experiences across the entirety of the event.
Collaborate with liturgy team for quality execution on all liturgical components of programming.
Work with sponsors on sponsored breakout sessions to ensure clarity on expectations, timelines, content, and vision for all parties.
Work with Vice President of Mission Advancement on general content creation and strategy between Congress events.
Oversee production of resources such as small group studies, parish playbooks, and digital tools that support Eucharistic renewal at the local level under the vision and guidance of NEC leadership.
Maintain a content calendar and manage the pipeline of ministry resources from concept through completion.
Cultivate relationships with ministry partners, speakers, and content creators to build a network that serves both Congress and ongoing mission needs.
Assist with and/or manage additional tasks and projects as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong creative skills with an ability to dream big, cast creative vision, and bring that vision to reality through execution.
Proven ability to manage high-volume of projects, personnel, and responsibilities simultaneously while keeping all on track.
Demonstrated competence in managing creative projects from ideation to completion with strong sense of workflow, time-management, resource alignment, and task prioritization.
Excellent people skills with an ability to listen to varying perspectives, evaluate ideas in light of mission objectives, and unite people around a common vision.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to delicately handle sensitive dynamics and situations.
Experience managing a team of people to successfully accomplish a unified objective.
Ability to prioritize and make decisions within budgetary guidelines.
Self-motivated with ability to take initiative, problem solve, and multitask.
Practicing Catholic in union with the Church, possessing awareness of the structures and working of the Church, and a heart for mission.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 suite and Slack.
Undergraduate degree in theology, communications, ministry leadership, or related field preferred.
Minimum of five years of national ministry experience required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Remote office setting.
Availability expected via Slack, email, phone, and video calls during normal business hours.
Frequent and long periods of computer use.
Moderate travel.
Some evening and weekend meetings and travel.
