Pre-Kindergarten 3 and 4 Year Old Teacher's Aide

Job Description

Saint Mary Star of the Sea School in Hampton, VA is currently seeking Pre-Kindergarten (PreK-K 3 and 4 year olds) Teacher's Aide. The Teacher Aide supports the Teacher by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. The Teacher Aide must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic role model who is passionate about sharing the Catholic faith and supporting the mission of Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School.

Responsibilities:
• Assist the teacher in implementing the daily program.
• Treating each child with dignity and respect.
• Recognizing and considering the individual needs of each child.
• Helping children to learn and think creatively to solve problems.
• Supervising the classroom according to the plans of the teacher when necessary.
• Fulfilling the role of the teacher in his/her absence
• Sharing with the teacher responsibility for maintaining the classroom.
Requirements
Professional Qualifications/Experience Required:
• High energy
• Ability to work well with others
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
• An understanding of child development
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• High school diploma (or equivalent) and be at least 18 years of age

Full time position (10 Months), approximately 40 hours per week.
