Job Description

SOAR! is seeking an experienced administrative professional to join the staff of the grantmaking department in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The primary responsibility of the Grants Program Associate is to assist in the administration of the organization's grantmaking programs. The Grants Program Associate will field requests for general grant information, answer inquiries related to funding opportunities and provide technical assistance to applicants. With over 100 grantee partners and an annual grant award budget of $3 million, the organization moved to a new grant management system to better serve stakeholders in the grants process. As part of this evolution, the Grants Program Associate will join the dynamic grantmaking department at a time of growth and change as newly established workflows and processes are adopted.

Additionally, the Grants Program Associate will play a vital role offering administrative support to the daily operations of the organization. The position reports to the Director of Grantmaking at the national SOAR! office in Silver Spring, Maryland. This position is in-person only and will not be available for hybrid or remote work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•Review and ensure accuracy and completeness of grant proposals, contacts, and supporting documentation
•Field and respond to inquiries about application opportunities, grants, and other program matters
•Encourage grant management system user adoption by providing technical support for users and onboarding/ account setup
• Conduct research as requested by Director of Grantmaking
• Provide in-person front desk reception during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, demonstrating a high level of customer service and phone etiquette
• Provide general and administrative support for office and team members such ordering supplies and liaising with vendors and building management
• Contribute to the successful execution of special projects as needed

Education and Experience Qualifications:
•A candidate with a bachelor's degree is preferred, along with 2-3 years of experience in administrative and programmatic roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
•Experience with related full-time professional work in a foundation, non-profit, or philanthropic operations role is a plus
•Preference is given to candidates with experience using CRM databases i.e., Blackbaud, WizeHive, SalesForce, Fluxx, Submittable, etc.

Skills and Key Competencies:
•High level of self-motivation, a strong work ethic, and ease working independently
•Ability to master the organization's grant administrative software, WizeHive, to facilitate management of grant life cycle, data integrity, workflows, and efficiency
•Excellent organizational skills and consistent attention to detail, priorities, and deadlines
•Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
•Ability to manage confidential issues and act with discretion
•Proficient in database management and Microsoft products
•An interest in the work of nonprofit organizations and a commitment to advancing equity and social and racial justice

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
•37.5-hour work week, Monday through Friday, between 9am to 5pm
•Work is normally performed in an office environment but may occasionally include off-site meeting or event venues
•Regular sustained operation of office machines, including computer, phone, printer, and copier is required
•Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Occasional travel within the US may arise for professional development or networking opportunities but are no more than a few times a year

Compensation:
Located in Silver Spring, Maryland, the salary range for this role is $48,000 - $52,000 USD commensurate with experience and a benefits package. This is a full-time, non-exempt position paid hourly. The final offer for a successful candidate will be determined by a combination of factors not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, and market consideration
