Job Description
The Director of Faith Formation provides the vision and coordinates the development of all parish faith formation programs for children, youth, and adults ensuring that all catechetical training and sacramental preparation align with the teachings of the Catholic Church and guidelines of the Arlington Diocese.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Works closely with the Pastor and collaborates regularly with clergy and staff. Manages staff, budgets, and resources, ensuring all programs meet parish standards. Participates in policy development, goal-setting, and strategic planning for faith formation initiatives.
• Leads and supervises the Faith Formation team of three coordinators and two support staff providing supervision and guidance as well as ensuring alignment with Church teachings and diocesan guidelines.
• Develops, plans, and implements the faith formation of our young people including Sacramental Preparation (First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation).
• Instructs parents/godparents in their role as a child's first teacher in their lifelong journey of faith while administering the processes associated with the Sacrament of Baptism.
• Engages and develops the faith of all parishioners including Adapted Religious Education (ARE), the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) and a variety of Adult Formation programs and ministries.
• Recruits, trains and supervises volunteers, including catechists and other non-paid staff and ensures compliance with Safe Environment Protocols.
• A master's degree in Pastoral Studies, Theology, or a related field is required as well as significant experience in Faith Formation and supervising staff and volunteers.
