Director of Advancement

Job Description

The Madeleine Choir School seeks a Director of Advancement to secure financial support for the school's unique mission from individuals, foundations, and corporations. The position also involves leadership in marketing student enrollment efforts and in advocating for and championing the school's gift to our community in service to the Cathedral, the annual concert series, and collaborative performances with other professional arts organizations. Managing a small staff, the Director will focus on Annual Giving, a major yearly fundraising event, and major gift cultivation. Reporting to the Pastoral Administrator, this position is an active and collaborative member of the MCS Leadership team and serves as a strategic partner to the Madeleine Choir School Board's Finance Committee, setting goals for yearly revenue, expenses, and program/portfolio development.
The Director will be responsible for planning development and marketing efforts, managing donor portfolios with assistance from other leadership team members, and ensuring the school meets its financial and marketing goals. The Director will interact with a wide range of people, including MCS families, alumni, volunteers, civic, private, and corporate leaders through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. A working knowledge of donor management software applications is needed. Required leadership of some weekend and evening events throughout the year.

The Madeleine Choir School, a mission of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Salt Lake City and a service of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, is an elementary school for children in Kindergarten through Grade Eight. Established in 1996, the school continues the cathedral tradition of preparing young people to engage the culture with the Catholic intellectual, artistic, moral and religious tradition. The Choir School pursues rigorous academic curricula in the humanities, mathematics and sciences, and the arts. The school fosters a strong program of moral and character formation, and seeks to provide a thought-provoking and comprehensive study of Christian Theology.
