Job Description

St. Peter's Home, a high-quality educational program serving children ages 6 weeks to 6 years, is hiring Lead Teachers, Associate Teachers, and Assistant Teachers to join the childcare team! We are looking for caring, dependable, and enthusiastic individuals who truly enjoy working with young children and want to make a positive difference in their early years.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM-5:30 PM

This listing is for multiple roles (Lead Teachers, Associate Teachers, and Assistant Teachers), all located at St. Peter's Home in Manchester, reporting to the Executive Director. The below description is a general overview of all positions. An official position description will be provided upon hiring for each specific position/individual.

Position: St. Peters Home - Teacher
Department: STP Child Care - 90010
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Job Type: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY: All teachers work in collaboration to provide a stimulating, safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Setting up the physical environment to promote cognitive learning and self-help skills, while adhering to state guidelines.
2. Managing classroom behaviors and maintaining an emotionally positive classroom through appropriate guidance techniques such as redirection, balance of activities, planned transitions, and logical consequences.
3. Constructing and implementing daily, weekly, and monthly lesson plans.
4. Providing a monthly newsletter to families outlining key activities and reminders.
5. Providing semi-annual evaluations of the children and their development.
6. Working with other staff to create a professional work environment, modeling healthy interactions with the children.
7. Supervising or encouraging other staff as needed.
8. Seeking out guidance from administration when needed.
9. Ensuring that child/teacher ratios are maintained per state guidelines and reporting immediately to administration if such ratios are endangered.
10. Cleaning and disinfecting classroom equipment and areas and sending toys down to be sanitized on a daily schedule.
11. Maintaining 12 hours of training that relates to the classroom and current best practices as required by the state of NH.
12. Maintaining current CPR and First Aid certifications.
13. Performing similar or related duties as assigned or requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below and/or be able to explain and demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using a combination of other skills and abilities.
• Individuals must also possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the essential functions of the job, which are as follows:
1. Continued familiarity with NH state regulations that guide childcare operations.
2. Knowledge of operational policy and procedures of St. Peter's Home.
3. Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
4. Mobility to stand, kneel, and sit with the children as required.
5. Ability to work calmly and professionally with staff, parents, and visitors.

Licensure/Certification:
Must meet the qualifications of a lead teacher, associate teacher, or assistant teacher, as applicable, and as outlined by the State of NH requirements.

Standard of Business Conduct:
Following St Peter's Home and the Diocese of Manchester's Standards of Conduct in any instance where there is suspicion of fraud, abuse, or a violation of the law. The Standards of Conduct require that suspicion or knowledge of any person(s) in violation of the Code be reported to the Corporate Compliance Officer. The extent to which individuals comply with the requirements contained within the Code will be a factor in evaluating overall job performance.
