Job Description

Middle School Theology Teacher (7th Grade)

Department: Theology
Schedule: Part-Time
Reports To: Building Principal and Chaplain
Start Date: Fall 2026

Position Summary
The Middle School Theology Teacher serves as both evangelist and catechist to Regis Middle School's seventh grade students. Through engaging instruction, authentic witness, and faithful presentation of Church teaching, the teacher helps students deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.

This role includes teaching three sections of approximately 15-20 students each while fostering a classroom culture rooted in discipleship, academic growth, and joyful Catholic identity.

How You Will Make an Impact
Guide middle school students in forming their identity in Christ through personal witness, authentic relationships, and the example of the saints.
Foster reverence and awe for the sacraments, especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation.
Help students recognize Christ's presence in both joyful and challenging circumstances within their lives and families.
Invite students who struggle to see Christ's relevance while encouraging those already growing in discipleship.
Create a safe, welcoming, and relational classroom environment.
Develop engaging lesson plans using whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction.
Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective study habits.
Inspire students to reflect on God's unique calling for their lives, including the richness of the Church's vocations.
Teach the Church's Theology of the Body in a faithful, age-appropriate, and holistic manner.
Design creative projects that build classroom community while honoring each student's individuality.
Maintain effective classroom management through loving discipline, clear expectations, and consistent supervision.
Collaborate actively with Theology Department staff to present a cohesive and compelling vision of the Catholic faith.
Pursue ongoing personal and professional formation, recognizing that authentic ministry flows from continual conversion and growth.

Qualifications and Desired Qualities
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
A visible and faithful commitment to Catholic discipleship, including fidelity to Church teaching and respect for pastoral authority.
An active personal prayer life and desire for continued spiritual growth.
The ability to build strong relationships with students and families.
Sensitivity to the emotional, academic, social, and spiritual needs of middle school students.
Strong classroom management skills with the ability to establish healthy boundaries and positive classroom culture.
The ability to present Church teaching clearly, accurately, and compassionately in an age-appropriate manner.
Creativity and flexibility in adapting lessons and projects to meet student needs.
A collaborative spirit and willingness to work closely with department colleagues.
Humility, resilience, and the ability to learn from challenges and mistakes.
A deep desire to help students encounter the living person of Jesus Christ and respond to His invitation to "Follow Me."
Hold a bachelor's degree required; Theology, Catechetics, Education, or related field preferred.
