About the Role
As a Tax Advisor, you'll help deliver high-quality tax preparation and advisory services to multiple clients across different industries. You'll work directly with business owners and leaders, providing accurate financial reporting, actionable insights, and value-driven recommendations. This role offers mentorship, professional growth, and the opportunity to become a trusted advisor in an environment that values discipline, clarity, and results.

Start Date: January 2026

Location
Preferred work location is in Des Moines, IA. The position is listed as hybrid because there is not an office space and there will be a mixture of in person meetings and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

Client Tax Return Preparation & Advisory
• Project and prepare personal and business tax returns and support clients with tax planning and compliance
• Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and analyze clients' financial situations to identify tax implications and opportunities for deductions and credits
• Develop personalized tax strategies for clients to minimize liabilities and maximize savings
• Review accuracy of prior year tax returns and identify potential opportunities.
• Ability to breakdown the tax return for the client to ensure they understand their current results.

Accounting
• Set up and maintain organizational books, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with accounting standards.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow forecast, profit and loss) to ensure accuracy.

Collaboration & Communication
• Partner with senior team members to develop customized solutions for client needs
• Communicate clearly and professionally with business owners, vendors, and internal team members
• Share knowledge, best practices, and process improvements to elevate team performance

Qualifications
• Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting (CPA license required and will need to show license)
• 1-2 years of experience working for a CPA firm (preparing personal and business tax returns)
• Experience or interest in forensic accounting - ability to dig deep into financials and advise on improvements needed
• Ability to jump into books as a managerial accountant
• A strong understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, or similar accounting software (experience with multi-client platforms a plus)
