Job Description

SUMMARY
The Office of Young Adult and Campus Ministry of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is seeking a passionate and faithful Director of Campus Ministry to serve the Catholic student and faculty community at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. This is a full-time position focused on building a vibrant, inclusive, and spiritually enriching ministry rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church and guided by the principles of Empowered by the Spirit. This position requires a practicing Catholic in good standing whose lifestyle and conduct reflect the values and teachings of the Church.

The Catholic Student Center at SHSU is a welcoming and active hub for Catholic students, faculty, and staff. Nestled between Sam Houston Village and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, the center offers a home-like environment where students can gather for Mass, confession, adoration, retreats, Bible studies, service projects, and social events.

Since its founding in 1986, the SHSU Catholic Student Center has been part of the Archdiocese's broader mission to bring a Catholic presence to college campuses. The center is open Sunday through Thursday, providing consistent opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and pastoral care. It plays a vital role in evangelizing the campus and forming young adults in their faith journey.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in pastoral ministry, theology, or a related field is required.
• Master's degree in pastoral ministry, theology, or a related field is strongly recommended.
• 1-3 years of experience in campus ministry or ministry with young adults.
• A thorough understanding of Catholic teaching and the ability to communicate and teach it effectively.
• Familiarity with the principles of Empowered by the Spirit and a passion for engaging young adults in the life of the Church.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and management skills.
• If not already attained, the candidate must be willing to pursue CCMA/USCCB certification in Campus Ministry as part of this role.

Suitable candidates may submit a cover letter, resume, and minimum salary expectation* to resume@archgh.org with Director of Campus Ministry SHSU on the subject line.
