Job Description

The Director of Office of Life, Justice and Peace leads the Archdiocesan effort to provide support and education to parish leaders bringing the Gospel to marginalized and vulnerable persons and advocating for the life and the dignity of all from conception to natural death. In addition to respect life ministry, the Director oversees ministries to people with special needs, those imprisoned and their families, and the deaf community. The Director participates in the collaborative leadership of the Institute for Evangelization and performs those duties as requested by the Executive Director.

Essential Functions:

Works with parishes and schools to support their implementation of the Church's social teaching and mission by curating and sharing of resources as well as developing strategies.
Coordinates annual planning process and annual reports, and manages implementation of goals and objectives.
Prepares the annual operating budget for the office.
Supervises and conducts annual performance appraisal for the Office of Life, Justice and Peace staff.
Coordinates and/or oversees events connected with the Office of Life, Justice and Peace, including the Life is Beautiful Mass and awards, Camp GLOW, Deaf Ministry Masses, and miscarriage ministry vespers.
Works with the Offices of Parish Renewal and Family, Youth and Young Adult Ministry to ensure that the parish renewal and ministry with youth and families incorporates the Church's social mission.
Communicates with parish Respect Life coordinators to implement the USCCB's Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities.
Serves as the primary point of contact for parish Respect Life Coordinators, including offering regular trainings and sharing resources.
Oversees communication with ministry volunteers and social media plan.
Collaborates with the Office of Cemeteries to maintain and grow Holy Innocents Miscarriage Ministry.
Maintains active membership on the Archdiocesan Respect Life Committee and other area life, justice, and peace organizations.
Supports local 40 Days for Life campaigns, Walking with Moms in Need, Rice Bowl, Gabriel Network, and other parish-based initiatives.
Facilitates formation for ministry to the ill and dying and bereavement ministry.
Collaborates with the Maryland Catholic Conference for advocacy and formation on end-of-life care.

Relationships:

Reports to the Executive Director of Evangelization.
Collaborates with other Offices within the Institute for Evangelization, as well as the Department of Catholic Schools, Black Catholic Ministry, Hispanic Ministry, and Office of Child and Youth Protection.
Collaborates with Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Charities, and the Maryland Catholic Conference.

Qualifications:

Advanced Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Law, Public Policy, or commensurate experience
Five (5) years' leadership experience in ministry or commensurate experience
Demonstrated skills in program design and implementation.
Practicing Roman Catholic.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Intercultural competency.
Knowledge of the structure and operation of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills - oral, written, and digital.
Proficient with MS Office products

Pay Range: $80,000 Annualized
