Job Description

Position Overview:

The Business Manager assists the Pastor in the leadership, personnel, facility and financial management of the Parish by managing the implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures required by the Diocese and by civil law.

Essential Job Functions:

Financial Management
o Directs the development and implementation of the parish budget.
o Supervises the counting and deposits of all offerings and receipts weekly.
o Reviews and processes parish invoices, bills, reimbursements, and other expenses through Bill.com weekly.
o Assists in counting and depositing the bills to the Dominican house account.
o Reviews the monthly bank reconciliations for all parish accounts and provides required accounting records and financial reports to Armanino.
o Reviews all monthly and yearly financial statements.
o Attends Finance Council meetings and provides financial information, reports, and operational updates.

Human Resources/Personnel Administration
o Reviews all payroll functions and prepares timely submission of such information to Armanino every two weeks.
o Establishes and maintains employee job descriptions.
o Administers salaries and benefits programs.
o Ensures all staff and volunteers are compliant with Diocesan Safe Environment requirements.
o Provides administrative support to the Pastor in matters relating to staffing, personnel policies, job responsibilities, and organizational structure.

Facilities Management
o Supervises any major repair and renovation of the parish and the Dominican house.
o Reviews proposed maintenance, repair and construction contracts.
o Assures the condition and cleanliness of all church structures meet expected conditions.
o Procures and coordinates all supplies, materials, equipment, and services required for the day-to-day operation of the parish.
o Maintains security and safety of church and house properties.
o Coordinates insurance requirements and short-term rental agreements for individuals, organizations, and outside groups using parish facilities.
o Presents any large facility expenditures to the Pastor and Finance Council for approval.

Administrative Responsibilities
o Consults with and advises the Pastor on business, administrative and operational matters.
o Directs the management of the parish office.
o Attends pastoral staff, Parish Council, Finance Council and Diocesan meetings.

Parish Leadership
o Ensures that all parish decisions and strategies are based on the parish mission.
o Be a positive spokesperson for support of parish decisions, including expansion projects, new ministries, parish functions, facility updates, etc.

Non-Essential Job Functions:
Performs job functions of staff when needed, i.e. sick days, vacation, etc.
Attend parish functions when possible

Requirements:
Strong knowledge of the Roman Catholic liturgy with an informed understanding of Vatican II and how it applies to the mission of the university parish
A practicing Catholic who supports, lives, and communicates the teachings of the Catholic Church
Active in a parish outside of the place of work
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Accounting and previous experience as a Business Manager
Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills required
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends
