Job Opportunity: Director of Sacred MusicHelp Us Rebuild Sacred Beauty at the Heart of Our Parish Worship
St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church - Summerville, SC
Full-Time | Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000
We are seeking a faith-filled, highly skilled Director of Sacred Music to lead and rebuild a reverent and vibrant music program rooted in the Church's sacred tradition. This full-time leadership position calls for a confident, experienced organist and choral director who will work closely with our pastor to elevate the liturgical life of our parish in accordance with the principles of Musicam Sacram.

Your Mission
Rebuild and lead the parish music program with excellence and fidelity to the Church's liturgy.
Establish and grow a Children's Choir, nurturing a love of sacred music in the next generation.
Incorporate Gregorian chant, polyphony, motets, and traditional hymnody into all liturgies, with the goal of establishing the English and Gregorian Propers and Ordinary as the primary musical settings of the Mass.
Direct and accompany:
Saturday Vigil Mass - 5:00 PM
Sunday Masses - 8:00 AM & 10:45 AM
Holy Days, funerals, weddings, and special liturgical events
Collaborate with the Pastor to select music that aligns with the liturgical calendar and sacred tradition, making regular use of Source & Summit to support liturgical planning and implementation.
Recruit, train, and schedule cantors, choir members, and instrumentalists.
Lead weekly rehearsals, prepare worship aids, and steward parish music resources.

Qualifications
A practicing Catholic, active in parish life, with a deep spiritual life and love for the Church's liturgy.
Firm understanding of the principles outlined in Musicam Sacram.
Demonstrated excellence in organ performance-including accompaniment, liturgical repertoire, and improvisation-as well as skilled and experienced choral direction within the context of the Mass.
Demonstrated strength in leadership, communication, and organization, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with staff as a cohesive team.
Experience building and directing music programs in a parish setting is preferred.

Our Instrument
St. Theresa's features a Rodgers 960 Digital Organ, a three-manual model with 60 drawknobs in a traditional case, installed with 16 audio channels. This well-maintained instrument plays a central role in the musical life of the parish.
