Position Overview
Title: Family and Youth Faith Formation Director
Status: Full-Time, In-Person
Reports to: Pastoral Director of Operations and Pastor
Schedule: Includes Sundays, Catholic holy days of obligation (including Christmas and Easter), and occasional evenings.

The Family and Youth Faith Formation Director is responsible for envisioning, developing, and leading a comprehensive faith formation program for children (grades K-8) and teens (grades 9-12), fostering lifelong discipleship and full participation in parish life. This pastoral leader plays a key role in the spiritual growth of families and collaborates closely with parish staff, clergy, and volunteers to ensure a vibrant, catechetically sound, and welcoming program rooted in the Gospel, Catholic social teaching, tradition and values.

Key Responsibilities
Faith Formation Program Leadership
• Design, implement, and oversee faith formation programs for children and teens in alignment with the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Boston.
• Continually assess curriculum and materials, ensuring theological accuracy, developmental appropriateness, and engagement across age levels.
• Coordinate preparation for and celebration of key sacraments including First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.
• Integrate an approved child safety curriculum in accordance with archdiocesan standards.
Volunteer Coordination and Parent Communication
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists and program assistants.
• Maintain regular and effective communication with families, offering resources, updates, and support.
• Manage registration processes and maintain timely, accurate participant records.
Community and Liturgical Engagement
• Organize and facilitate 4-5 family-focused formation events annually.
• Create and lead service-learning opportunities for teens throughout the academic year.
• Encourage and train students to participate in liturgical ministries at parish Masses.
Pastoral Team Collaboration
• Actively participate as a member of the Saint Cecilia Pastoral Team.
• Contribute to parish-wide planning, projects, and events such as Holy Week, Easter, and Christmas celebrations.
• Support community-building events, including new parishioner receptions and ministry appreciation gatherings.

Qualifications and Skills
• A confirmed and practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with a strong commitment to the mission and teachings of the Church.
• Passion for sharing the Catholic faith with children and adolescents in a joyful, authentic, and engaging manner.
• Bachelor's degree in theology, pastoral ministry, religious education, or a related field required; master's degree or current theological study strongly preferred.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in parish faith formation, catechesis, or youth ministry.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with digital tools for communication and catechesis.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with strong initiative.
