The position serves the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary, a Catholic community of consecrated women at the service of the Schoenstatt mission. Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary are seeking faith-filled, service-minded employees to join our team.

GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides accounting for the Institute and other related tasks as assigned by Province Treasurer.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Highly confidential person.
2. General bookkeeping for the province, including data entry in Excel spreadsheets and Blackbaud Accounting Software.
3. Checks the monthly credit card statements, matching items with receipts. Balances the credit cards.
4. Bills other locations of the Institute for services provided.
5. Maintains and monitors a system for the proper authorization of the payment of invoices.
6. Assists with financial reports.
7. Maintains accounting policies and procedures.
8. Maintains useful Charts of Accounts on software accounting system.
9. Completes other assignments within the scope of this position as requested by the General Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

2. Interpersonal Skills: interacts courteously with sisters and co-workers and job-related contacts, respects sisters' privacy. Contributes to an atmosphere of teamwork.
3. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work well with others.
4. Above average communication skills including verbal, written, and listening.
5. Professional Skills: Minimum of Associate's Degree in Accounting or 2 years' of accounting experience.
6. Experience and working knowledge of various accounting software, including but not limited to: Blackbaud, Intuit QuickBooks, Quicken, and Microsoft Office products.
7. Demonstrated office and business experience in a non-profit environment.
8. Must possess initiative, be self-directed and be able to complete the workload with or without on-site direction.
9. Knowledge of US GAAP; familiarity with current federal and state laws related to financial administration.
10. Knowledge of tax-exempt and non-profit laws is a bonus. Ability to learn them is a requirement.
11. Understanding and compatibility with the vision, values and mission of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary. Devoted active member of a Roman Catholic community highly desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Works hours: Flexible with permission.
Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs. unaided. If heavier objects need to be moved or lifted, assistance from others is required.

The Bookkeeping Accountant is directly accountable to the Provincial Treasurer.
