Job Description

The role of the Director of Youth Ministry is to direct the parish's efforts of leading young people to Christ.

Youth Ministry (High School & Middle School):
• Foster relationships with high school aged youth in the parish and their parents.
• Direct weekly youth programming.
• Coordinate (and recruit) youth ministry core members and volunteer adult leaders.
• Assist in Confirmation preparation as our diocese shifts toward restored order of the Sacraments of Initiation
• Adopt an integrated curriculum, with an openness to implementing a Life Teen model.
• Facilitate outreach to local Catholic and Public High Schools.
• Ensure Youth Ministry visibility through effective and creative communication.
• Organize camp trips to Covecrest and/or other appropriate camps, conferences, & retreats.
• Adhere to a budget and assist in the budget planning process.
• Coordinate fundraising where necessary.

School/Campus Ministry:
Sacred Heart Cathedral School is our parochial school on campus and the parish's largest ministry. This relationship presents an opportunity for our youth minister to cultivate relationships and inspire students in grades K-8 before they ultimately enter their high school youth ministry experience.
• Be a joyful and welcoming presence at school functions and liturgies.
• Work with teachers and administrators to schedule, plan, and implement retreats and extracurricular faith formation for SHCS students.
• Help coordinate service projects with the student council and other groups.

Other Roles and Responsibilities:
• Serve as a contributing member of the parish's leadership team.
• Collaborate with the Director of Faith Formation (and other staff) on creation of integrated curriculum, aligned events, and shared communications.
• Assist with monthly Faith Night events, with a team of volunteers.
• Engage and form parents as the primary educators of their children's faith.
• Cooperation with Diocesan Office of Youth Ministries including participation in Diocesan events.

Qualifications and Considerations
• The ideal candidate will be a joyful, outgoing, confident, and inviting person who loves the Church and who can't help but share the joy of the Gospel with others.
• Applicants must be practicing Roman Catholics and able to articulate the Truth of the Gospel effectively.
• M-F hours are flexible and negotiable, with some remote work arrangements possible.
• Salaried, full time (35-40 hours per week), FLSA-exempt ministry position.
• Base salary of $45,000 -- increasing pay scale range commensurate with education and experience.
• Bachelor's degree in related field required.
• Must be able to relocate or commute easily to Pensacola, FL. Some assistance with moving expenses offered.
• Must perceive objects through the eyes, express ideas by means of the spoken word, perceive the nature of sounds by the ears, sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time, able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 lbs.
• Expected to work joyfully with others and promote a welcoming environment to all.
• Maintains a personal awareness of our missionary culture and embodies such in work habits.
• Maintains confidentiality of church records and conversations.
• The skills and knowledge required would generally be obtained with previous parish ministry experience.
• A clean background check (no criminal record) and ability to complete all safe environment requirements.
• Prompt and reliable, willingness to communicate with supervisor after hours on occasion.
• Attention to detail, able to complete tasks to completion with minimal supervision.

Position will be open until filled. Anticipated start date as early as August 2025.
Three rounds of interviews and an in-person visit to Pensacola should be expected.
