The Science Teacher will teach Biology to 8th Grade and 9th Grade (including lab-based instruction) and contribute to the continued development of a rigorous, hands-on science curriculum. The ideal candidate loves their subject, brings energy to the classroom, and embraces the formation of adolescent men in a school environment that blends tradition with a forward-thinking view of scientific inquiry.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field required.
• An advanced degree in education or the sciences is preferred.
• Prior teaching experience (2+ years) strongly desired.
• Connecticut certification in relevant Science areas (7-12) is preferred
• Passion for Catholic education and comfort with teaching in an environment that integrates faith, reason, virtue, and the natural sciences
• Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to partner with families.
• Commitment to professional growth, collaboration, and ongoing improvement of curriculum and instruction
Duties & Responsibilities
• Instruction & Learning
• Plan, teach, and assess Biology courses aligned with school standards and classical-inquiry pedagogy
• Deliver engaging lessons that encourage critical thinking, experimentation, scientific literacy, and wonder about the natural world
• Maintain a well-organized, safe laboratory environment and model best practices in lab safety.
• Prepare students for science fairs, competitions, and exhibitions of learning.
• Build strong rapport with students, guiding them to become young men of initiative, integrity, and sound judgment
• Communicate with parents and guardians about student progress and classroom activities
• Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen the Science Department and the overall Stella Maris curriculum
• Participate in school events, faculty meetings, formation opportunities, and professional development
