Job Description

St. John's Seminary (Camarillo, CA) is conducting a search for a full-time faculty position in Spanish beginning July 1, 2027.

The Spanish Language Program at St. John's Seminary prepares future priests to minister to Spanish-speaking communities. In addition to pastoral Spanish courses, the program offers electives and Spanish courses for native speakers. It also facilitates language immersions and individual tutoring.

Primary responsibilities:
• Teach four to six courses per year on the semester system.
• Assist the department chair in Spanish proficiency exams as well as placement exams during admissions
• Provide service to the seminary through committee and formation work.
• Engage in regular professional development through research, publications, conferences, or other avenues.

Qualifications:
• Practicing Catholic committed to Christ and to the mission of forming men for the priesthood
• Gifted teacher with adequate experience to teach all levels of college Spanish. The ideal candidate will have intermediate to advanced experience as a Spanish instructor.
• Master's Degree in Spanish Language or Literature or related field
• Fluent in Spanish and English
• Demonstrate professionalism and a strong work ethic; team player who exhibits a collegial and cooperative approach to work, contributing positively to a supportive and productive work environment
• Parish or other ministerial experience preferred
