Job Description

The Ministry Accessibility Support Assistant provides essential administrative, logistical, and sighted one-to-one support to the Evangelization Consultant for the Multicultural Ministry, who is legally blind. This role enables the Consultant to fully carry out the responsibilities of the ministry by aiding with meetings, communications, document review, scheduling, and other duties that cannot be independently performed due to visual impairment. In addition to direct support, the Ministry Accessibility Support Assistant works collaboratively within a team environment, engaging with secretariat staff and ministry partners to support the development and delivery of resources, formation opportunities, programs, and services related to Multicultural Ministry. The position also provides limited administrative assistance to the Director of and the entire Multicultural Ministry team.

This role requires professionalism, discretion, flexibility, and a strong service orientation rooted in the mission of the Catholic Church.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Support & Accessibility Assistance
Provide sighted one-to-one support to the legally blind Evangelization Consultant during meetings, events, introductions, networking, and ministry engagements, including accompaniment as needed.
Read printed, handwritten, and digital materials aloud and verbally convey written content accurately and clearly.
Review, summarize, and verbally transmit information from emails, files, correspondence, and other documents, including materials of a complex or confidential nature.
Assist with notetaking during meetings, including some evening and weekend commitments.
Support the Consultant with other duties and responsibilities related to office operations and ministry functions as needed.

Administrative & Office Support
Manage email, calendars, scheduling, and meeting coordination.
Develop and maintain contact lists, agendas, files, and record- keeping systems (both electronic and physical).
Assist with editing, formatting, and distributing office correspondence, flyers, worship aids, presentations, and ministry materials to ensure professional appearance and accessibility.
Assist with preparing slides and presentations.
Review incoming mail and route materials appropriately.
Serve as a first point of contact for internal and external inquiries; answer phones professionally and courteously.
Assist with general office tasks such as copying, filing, completing forms, and preparing materials for meetings and events.
Anticipate administrative needs and follow through on tasks with minimal supervision.

Program, Event & Ministry Support
Assist with coordinating meetings, training sessions, events, and projects for the Multicultural Ministry team.
Assist the Multicultural Ministry team in planning and supporting initiatives, programs, and events.
Conduct online and in-person research in support of ministry initiatives.
Facilitate administrative processes related to budgets, including reimbursement requests, invoices, and deposits.
Interact positively and professionally with Pastoral Center staff, clergy, volunteers, ministry partners, and visitors.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Mission & Ministry Alignment
A Catholic in good standing who understands, supports, and is willing to actively advance the mission of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Boston.
Willingness to serve as a witness to one's relationship with Christ and to support the Church's evangelization and discipleship efforts.
Experience working in a Catholic organization and familiarity with Catholic ministry and parish life preferred.

Education & Experience
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience in office administration, operations, or related support roles.

Skills & Competencies
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage confidential, sensitive, time-sensitive, and critical matters with discretion, tact, and good judgment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent); familiarity with technology, web management, and catechetical or ministry tools a plus.
Strong service orientation with a pleasant and professional phone manner; patient and attentive listener.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Positive, flexible, and professional demeanor; ability to build trust and strong working relationships.
Flexibility in work hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS
Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours per day.
Ability to speak clearly and communicate verbally for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed.

Part-time: 30 hours per week

Additional Details: Opportunity to work remotely on Monday and Friday. Required in-office Tue., Wed., and Thu.
