POSITION SUMMARY
Franciscan University of Steubenville seeks a visionary, mission-driven Director of Video and Media Production (DVMP) to lead a talented creative team in telling stories that inspire, evangelize, recruit, form, and invite others into the transformational mission of Franciscan. This leader will shape video, livestream, podcast, broadcast, and digital storytelling that advances the University's Catholic identity and extends its reach to students, families, alumni, benefactors, conference participants, and seekers around the world. This role is ideal for a proven creative leader who can set vision, raise production standards, mentor a team, manage a hjgh-volume production pipeline, and personally contribute as a skilled producer, director, cinematographer, and editor. The DVMP collaborates with key stakeholders across the University, providing leadership and creative direction, and participating in strategic planning to elevate, expand, and diversify the University's digital outreach.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing video and media production team, fostering a culture of creative excellence, collaboration, accountability, professional growth, and service to the University's Catholic mission.
• Provide strategic creative direction for the University's video and media production, ensuring projects advance the University's mission, strengthen its brand, support key institutional goals, and communicate with beauty, clarity, and impact.
• Collaborate with MarCom leadership and University stakeholders to identify strategic priorities, clarify audience needs, shape messaging, develop story concepts, and ensure video and media projects are aligned with institutional goals.
• Oversee the full production process from concept development, scripting, planning, filming, post-production, delivery, and evaluation, ensuring projects are completed on time and at a high standard of quality.
• Produce, direct, shoot, and edit high-quality video and digital media projects for departments and initiatives across the University, including MarCom, Admissions, Advancement, Steubenville Conferences, Academics, Faith & Reason, and other mission-critical areas.
• Develop compelling story-driven content that engages key audiences, including prospective students and families, alumni, benefactors, conference participants, faculty, staff, students, and broader Catholic and public audiences.

REQUIREMENTS
Must understand, support, and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:
Technical Skills
• 7+ years of progressive experience in video production, media production, digital storytelling, creative services, or related fields.
• Demonstrated excellence in story-driven video production, with a strong portfolio and demo reel showing high-quality creative, technical, and narrative work.
• Strong working knowledge of video production, lighting, cinematography, audio recording, editing, livestreaming, podcasting, studio production, and digital distribution workflows.
• Proficiency preferred with industry-standard production and post-production tools, preferably including Adobe Creative Cloud, Avid, livestream production systems, studio production systems, broadcast workflows, and/or shared storage systems.
• Experience managing multiple complex media projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards for creative quality, technical excellence, deadlines, and strategic alignment.
• Experience in higher education, nonprofit, ministry, media, broadcast, agency, or mission-driven communications preferred.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with MarCom leadership, University departments, faculty, staff, students, benefactors, and external partners.
• Service-focused and collaborative approach, with the ability to listen well, clarify goals, guide stakeholders, and deliver a positive experience for internal and external audiences.
• Ability to think strategically about audience, message, platform, and desired outcomes while maintaining attention to creative and technical detail.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Video Production, Media Production, Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, Film, Broadcast, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith, with the ability to express, support, and advance the Catholic mission and identity of Franciscan University.
Certifications & Licenses
• Certifications or advanced training in video production, media production, digital marketing, livestream production, broadcast production, project management, or related areas preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license required for local and some national travel, off-site shoots, equipment transport, or University-related production assignments.
Workplace Factors
• This position is primarily campus-based and requires regular work in office, studio, event, and on-location production environments.
• Must be able to lift, carry, set up, and operate video, audio, lighting, livestream, and related production equipment, typically up to 30-40 pounds.
• Requires extended periods of computer-based work for editing, planning, project management, and post-production.
• Some evening, weekend, and off-hours work is required to support University events, livestreams, conferences, filming schedules, and other mission-critical production needs.
• Occasional local, national, and international travel may be required for University-related video and media production.
