Position Overview

The Director of School Ministry is a Missionary Disciple who oversees the School

Ministry Program, which is the heart of the Archdiocesan Secondary Schools. In collaboration with the school administration, the Director of School Ministry provides liturgical experiences, which are excellent; faith formation opportunities which foster intentional discipleship; and retreats which bring students and faculty into a one on one encounter with Jesus Christ.

The Director of School Ministry is also a teaching member of the Theology Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
LITURGY, WORSHIP, AND PRAYER
Plan, coordinate, and execute class/school liturgies, schedule daily masses, and intentions.
Schedule and supervise student sacristans and liturgical ministers.
Coordinate liturgical music for all liturgies.
Oversee sacristy and liturgical needs.
Coordinate school-wide prayer experiences during Advent, Lent, and other liturgical seasons.
Schedule and coordinate Penance Services for the school community.
Collaborate with administration and faculty to integrate Catholic identity and Gospel values across the curriculum, school culture, and student life.
Support faculty in incorporating prayer, reflection, and Catholic social teaching into classroom experiences where appropriate.

RETREATS
Plan, coordinate, and evaluate retreats that foster meaningful spiritual growth.
Plan and serve as Director for all Kairos retreats.

FAITH FORMATION AND CHRISTIAN SERVICE
Collaborate with administration to provide an overall faith formation plan.
Assist clubs and sports teams with finding opportunities for service.
Develop partnerships with local organizations to expand meaningful service opportunities for students.
Promote a culture of vocational awareness, particularly to priesthood and religious life.
Be an active participant in formation including retreats (adult and student) and yearly programming.
Assist in planning and facilitating faculty and staff spiritual formation opportunities, including prayer services, retreats, and reflection opportunities.
Promote campus ministry programming through school communications, social media, and announcements.
Support opportunities for parents and alumni engagement in the spiritual life of the school community.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
Create the master school ministry calendar for spiritual life during the school year.
Oversee and manage school ministry budget.
Attend administration and staff meetings.
Promote and support student life and school activities per the administration's
directives.
Assist with and support the development of newly formed Leadership Academy focused on servant leadership (effective Summer 2026).
Scheduling and steering meetings of adult and student campus ministry teams.
Providing pastoral counseling to students and staff and collaborating with the guidance department and administration on the spiritual health and well-being of the school community.
Participating in meetings/workshops sponsored by the Office of Catechetical Formation for School Ministry.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a practicing Catholic, willing to uphold Catholic moral teaching and leading a life consistent with the Catholic Faith.
Bachelor's degree in Theology or Religious Studies from a Catholic college or university.
Previous experience in secondary education, campus ministry, youth ministry, or parish life preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and social media preferred.
Requirement: Applicants must be practicing Catholics as verified by the pastor of the parish in which they are registered.
