Job Description

I. IDENTIFYING INFORMATION
Position Title: Communications Coordinator
Location: St. Jude Catholic Church
Status: Part Time
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director of Ministry Operations

II. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of effective strategies in the areas of communications, marketing, and public relations that will increase the visibility of St. Jude Catholic Church in a manner that enhances its overall reputation, engages current members, and attracts new members.

III. POSITION CONTENT
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Major Responsibilities and Regular Activities of Position
1. Creates and writes content and accompanying images for printed materials and electronic/social media, including, but not limited to, the weekly bulletin, weekly e-mail newsletter, parish website, and parish social media accounts (e.g. Facebook, Instagram)
2. Develops presentation materials for parish-wide updates (e.g. Annual Report, Parish Town Hall)
3. Creates and maintains a cohesive and integrated branding strategy for St. Jude Church
4. Recruits a team of local volunteer photographers and ensures a robust library of current photographs is maintained, including, but not limited to, campus/buildings/facilities, seasonal liturgical celebrations, and parish-wide events (e.g. Festival, Parish Picnic, etc.)
5. Actively promotes, applies, and communicates priorities and direction as stated in the Parish Mission Statement, as appropriate
6. Participates in staff meetings and planning/strategy sessions, as appropriate

IV. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
1. Must possess strong writing and editing skills
2. Must demonstrate experience and proficiency with publishing software (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
3. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
4. Must demonstrate strong time management skills
5. Must possess a working knowledge of the Catholic Church and faith

1. Good organization and planning skills
2. Ability to organize and manage workload to meet deadlines
3. Ability to work with parish staff, parish volunteers and vendors
4. Good interpersonal skills
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills
6. Ability to manage relationships in an effective, professional manner
7. Self-motivated.
8. Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
9. Understands and adheres to the professional standards of conduct set forth by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis as well as any as outlined by professional degree/license, as applies.
10. Willingness to foster the Church's mission
B. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor Degree in Communications and/or Marketing preferred, or equivalent experience
2. Practical experience of 3+ years preferred
3. Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
4. Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
5. Background screening required

V. WORKING ENVIRONMENT
1. Requires extended time working on a computer/ utilizing computer screens
2. Requires extensive use of keyboards and other administrative equipment
3. Must be able to communicate extensively and effectively with staff and vendors via telephone/TDD, one-on-one conversations, face-to-face, public presentations, and written correspondence
4. Must be able to navigate through the office
5. Must be able to function within a moderate noise level office environment, flexibility to work from home when deemed appropriate
