Job Description

Nativity Catholic Parish in Hollywood, Florida, is hiring for a Stewardship and Development Coordinator. S/he is responsible for coordinating all activities oriented to promoting stewardship and developing funding for Nativity Catholic Parish and School, including the ABCD annual appeal, direct mail, fundraising events, obtaining funding from grants, volunteer resource development, school alumni relations and media appeals. This position works closely with and takes direction from the pastor, the finance council and the development board to develop, implement and monitor development plans, and coordinate endowment activities with the Archdiocese of Miami. The Stewardship and Development Coordinator performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

Functions include:
Work with pastor, parish Finance Council, parish Development Board and school administration to implement strategic plan for promoting stewardship among the faithful and developing funding resources to build the financial health of the parish and school.
Track incoming donations and identify and report on sources of donations and trends and patterns of giving. Develop methods of recognition and expressions of gratitude for donors. Recommend development opportunities to pastor, Finance Council, Parish Council and Development Board based upon support trends.
Work with chairs of key annual fundraisers to promote the events, coordinate the logistics of and solicit volunteers to work the events, and evaluate and report on event outcomes.
Promote development initiatives and events, fundraising campaigns and stewardship messages through the parish Web site, weekly print bulletin, and social media.
Write succinct and compelling promotional copy through a Stewardship Thought of the Week, and Time Talent Treasure columns.
Work with pastor, finance council, development board and school principal to develop and write summaries that serve as scripts for communicating a compelling case to support the development efforts of the parish and school.
Assemble media kits for distribution at events and meetings.
Publish and maintain current calendar of fundraising events. Report on post-event outcomes to the pastor, finance and parish councils, and the parish and school community.
Coordinate communications with prospective donors, including school alumni.
Solicit advertisers for weekly print bulletin and build and maintain relationships with them.
Coordinate weekly collection money-counting through volunteers. Monitor compliance with Archdiocesan procedures for securing, counting and reporting the funds.
Create, organize and maintain development database for school alumni, and individual donors.
Process donations and ensure that all gifts (both monetary and in-kind donations) are accurately recorded and acknowledged, working with the pastor to write and send acknowledgements.
Participate in meetings of development, finance and parish councils, providing reports on development efforts and endowment activities and results.
Provide assistance in fundraising events.
Build relationships with stewardship and development personnel at other parishes and identify best practices for stewardship operations.
Research and compile information on potential sources of grants, matching fund donations, and other grant and giving programs.
Coordinate productions and the mailing of appeal letters.
Coordinate communications with Archdiocese regarding the endowment fund.
Obtain and prepare reports on endowment contributions, investments, returns and distributions.
Conduct affairs and duties with confidentiality and discretion.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED and three (3) years' experience in institutional advancement, marketing, PR, and/or community relations functions required.
Bachelor degree in marketing, PR, finance or related field; and five (5) years' experience in institutional advancement, marketing, PR, and/or community relations functions preferred.
Experience in a Roman Catholic environment required, with knowledge of basic tenets of Catholic Church and parish structures.
Knowledge of fundraising and promotion of non-profit religious institutions.
Skill in needs analysis, using systematic approaches to assess and identify needs.
Skills in implementing action plans.
Knowledge of basic project management principles.
Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel, PowerPoint.
Good computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively.
Good oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice; good spelling and grammar are required.
Good Spanish-language spoken communication skills required.
Experience working with and generating financial reports from spreadsheets and databases.
Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time.
Ability to multi-task and retain accuracy in an environment of competing deadlines.
Must be supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
Able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate scheduled events.
Able to work outdoors and in inclement weather on occasion to meet needs of events.
Must have a professional demeanor.
