Job Description

St. Edith Stein School for Girls (SES) is looking for an experienced school administrator and teacher who is dedicated to classical Catholic education, has an entrepreneurial spirit, and has a proven track record of forging successful relationships and leading by example. SES is a growing school entering its ninth year with near-term goals of increased enrollment and full-time staff.

The Dean of Students will support the Headmistress through collaboration in administrative matters and taking the lead on student activities. The Dean of Students is also a teaching role within the school. The preferred candidate will have significant teaching and leadership experience in a Catholic educational environment. Below are additional qualifications that will be evaluated in all applicants:

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken,
* Experience in developing and supporting a thriving school culture
* Ability to work in a dynamic educational environment, adapt to changing circumstances, and effectively prioritize competing demands.

Executive Summary
St. Edith Stein School for Girls is located in Front Royal, VA, and began operations in the fall of 2018. St. Edith Stein School for Girls (SES) has students grades 7 through 12 and is a member of the Divinum Family of Schools (The DAFS) which also includes Divinum Auxilum Academy and St. Joseph the Just School for Boys. We are looking for an experienced professional to take on responsibilities as the Dean of Students. The Dean of Students assists in the day-to-day operations of the school, including the management of students, routine communications with school families, and coordinating school activities. The successful candidate will have experience with teaching, student enrichment, and academic leadership. This position is a full-time, salaried position spanning a 34-week academic year from September through May. The school takes off all solemnities and observes Christmas, Easter, and summer breaks. There will be occasional weekend and evening events and some time will naturally be devoted to planning and preparation during the school breaks. It is understood that as Dean of Students, participation in student and parent-related activities will be a priority. Most of these events are scheduled on the annual academic calendar, but some will be added as needed.

Job Responsibilities
The Dean of Students will report directly to the Headmistress and work together with her to lead day-to-day operations of the school. The Dean of Students will be in charge of:
* Enriching school culture and student life within the school community.
* Coordinating the Friday activities and overseeing the practical arts program.
* Overseeing Student Council, the monthly speakers series, the House * Program, planning and executing school activities like annual hikes and events with The DAFS.
* Assisting the Headmistress and teachers with disciplinary and other issues that arise in the normal rhythm of school life. Leading homeroom and morning prayer, accompanying students to daily Mass.
* Regularly communicating with current parents, including preparation of the weekly newsletter, maintaining an up-to-date school calendar, information related to school activities, and answering parent questions
* Teaching four classes, including one 7/8 grade middle school, one 9/10 grade, and one 11/12 grade high school class.
* Collaborating with the Headmistress and Advisory Board on matters of school culture.
* Supporting and participating in the school's annual and targeted fundraising and recruitment events.
* Collaborating with teachers and coaches on the organization of events and communication with families.
* Representing SES in the community and building ties with local
Catholic communities and business leaders to bolster the school's reputation.
* Assisting the Headmistress with the preparation of transcripts, report cards, and midterm grade reports.
* Providing Catholic formation to students, school personnel, and parents.
* Modeling professional, moral, and ethical standards and demonstrating good character and integrity in all interactions.

St. Edith Stein School for Girls is an exciting venture located in Front Royal, Virginia. It serves the communities of Warren, Frederick, Shenandoah, Loudon, and Paige Counties. Our mission statement is "to provide an authentically feminine education which seeks to form young women in what is virtuous, real and lovely."
Our student goal for the 2026-2027 school year is 40 students; however, our long-term goal is a student cap of 60 students. We serve grades 7 through 12 and graduate our students with the high school diploma requirements of the state of Virginia.
