Job Description
Manages the business operations of Catholic Charities under the direction of the Agency Administration and within the guidelines of the Diocese of Charlotte; creates budgets and monitors financial operations; oversees client billing, risk management, human resources, and information technology; ensures financial compliance with grants and contracts; supervises assigned staff. Conducts and coordinates the Agency's business activities; provides liaison to Agency Offices; ensures that business activities are conducted in accordance with established policies, procedures, and contractual constraints.
Coordinates the preparation and monitoring of Agency budgets; ensures that expenditures are consistent with established budgetary goals and constraints; prepares reports outlining Agency revenue and expense projections and trends; supervises daily cash receipts and deposits.
Supervises Agency client billing practices and procedures, ensuring adherence to Agency guidelines and payer requirements.
Develops and implements Agency risk management policies and procedures under the direction of Agency administration and in cooperation with the diocesan Risk Manager.
Manages the Agency hiring and end-of-service/termination process; maintains personnel database; analyzes and provides statistical reports.
Manages Agency information technology infrastructure needs (including computer hardware, databases, and software) and collaborates with diocesan staff.
Assists in the administration of Agency grants and contracts; participates in project planning and development; directs and audits expenditure of grant funding and contract operations to ensure compliance.
Selects and supervises assigned staff; plans and organizes work; develops and establishes work methods and standards; reviews and evaluates employee performance; executes disciplinary action.
Participates as an active member of the Agency's EOS process, in the evaluation of Agency services, and strategic planning toward the accomplishment of the Agency's mission; participates in the planning and execution of the Agency's quality improvement process.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in staff meetings, staff training, and development activities.
Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have strong accounting knowledge and skills. MBA or CPA desired. Three years of experience in supervision and administration, including fiscal responsibility.
Skills required to: define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make decisions; work independently and exercise discretion while regularly managing confidential information; participate in the development of policies, and execute responsibilities in keeping with established policies, legal and contractual requirements; participate in the preparation and administration of budgets; prepare correspondence, records, reports and make presentations; establish and maintain effective working relationships; direct activities and supervise assigned staff; participate in the planning and evaluation of Agency programs and services.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Responsibilities of the Business Director involve travel and work beyond the regularly scheduled workday.
