POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Parish Catechetical Director
Reports to: Pastor
Classification: Full-time
Salary: $55,000/$60,000 - commensurate on experience/education

General Description: Director of Family Formation assists the Pastor in accompanying the entire parish family to develop a closer relationship to God, Jesus Christ, and the Church, striving always to advance the mission and ministry of the parish and Catholic Church. This will include working with other parish staff, coordinators and volunteers in the development of additional appropriate and effective evangelization and catechetical programs and processes for children, youth, families, and adults associated with both the parish and school communities..

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
- Development and implementation of Pathways, a comprehensive Family Faith Formation program that is inclusive for parents and school-aged children in grades 1-9
- Be available to meet one-on-one with all new families and hold periodic check-ins with all families
- Communicating with parents via email and parent meetings.
-Follow up on the Family Meetings home activities provided to the families for each formation.
- Recruit, train and provide continuing education to Family Formation teams and catechists involved in each aspect of the Family Faith Formation program.
- Oversight of the Family Faith Formation Committee
-Communication of the Family Faith Formation through vehicles such as the weekly bulletin, website and other social media.
- Maintain and oversee administration of all communication and records for the programs
within the scope of responsibility.
- Update and manage the database of family information including attendance and contact information.
-Maintain communication with the Pastor, parish staff, and the Diocese's Catechetical office.
-Prepare an annual Evangelization & Catechesis budget.
-Provide a ministerial presence at parish and diocesan events and as directed by pastor.
-Fulfilling any other mutually agreed upon responsibilities.
Future Considerations once established in your role: Working alongside parish leadership and volunteers in other areas such as Baptisms, Marriage Prep, OCIA, and Adult Faith Formation.

Qualifications/Skills:
Education: bachelor's or master's degree in theology, pastoral ministry, religious education or related field. If degree(s) are in other fields, religious education/formation experience and verification are required. Minimum 5 years' experience in the development and administration of a Faith Formation program.
- Must be a practicing Catholic, fully adherent to the Church's teachings in faith and morals.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers in further advancing the mission of the parish
- Continue to engage in ongoing formation to ensure that this knowledge and practice is up to date and effective
-Good written and oral communication skills.
- Strict adherence to a professional code of conduct, observing appropriate / professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Be available to meet one-on-one with all new families.
- Meet periodically with catechists to update and understand their needs.
- Handle registration and schedule classes ensuring appropriate paperwork is completed prior to registration.
- Good organization and administrative skills.
- Ability to accept, as well as give, appropriate supervision.
- Ability to drive and valid driver's license.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis and requires that you be physically present in the Parish office.
- Ability to use computer, including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Must attend a Protecting God's Children workshop and successfully pass a background check.
