Job Description

General Summary
Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church is seeking a joyful, mission-driven Catholic leader to serve as our Youth & Children's Ministry Coordinator. This individual will lead a dynamic ministry for children (K-5), middle school (Edge), and high school (Life Teen), fostering authentic encounters with Jesus Christ and forming young disciples rooted in the life of the Church.

This role focuses on relational evangelization, community-building, leadership development, and engaging programming. The Youth & Children's Ministry Coordinator does not oversee sacramental preparation or family catechesis but works collaboratively with parish leadership to support the overall mission of evangelization.

Key Responsibility Areas
* Vision & Leadership
- Collaborate with the Director of Faith Formation and the Pastor to support a unified vision of evangelization within the parish.
- Build, recruit, and lead strong volunteer Core Teams for both Youth and Children's Ministry.
- Create a welcoming and missionary culture for children and teens.
- Provide consistent opportunities for prayer, community, service, and discipleship.

Children's Ministry (K-5)
- Oversee and grow all non-sacramental children's ministry programming.
- Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers with gifts suited for children's ministry.
- Coordinate and oversee initiatives such as:
+ Vacation Bible School (VBS)
+ Totus Tuus
+ Seasonal and community-building children's events

Middle School & High School Ministry
- Organize and lead Edge (middle school) and Life Teen (high school) programs.
- Recruit, train, and form youth ministry Core Teams.
- Coordinate relational outreach efforts, including high school lunches.
- Plan and oversee retreats and summer opportunities such as:
+ Steubenville Conferences
+ Summer on the Shore
+ Parish summer events and community-building activities
- Encourage youth participation in parish life and the sacramental life of the Church.

Administration and Communication
- Organize calendars, events, volunteers, and ministry logistics effectively.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with parents, volunteers, and parish staff through print and digital platforms.
- Manage ministry workflow independently while maintaining collaboration with parish leadership.

Qualifications and Skills
- A strong candidate will demonstrate:
+ Experience in youth ministry and/or children's ministry (preferred).
+ Educational background in theology or related field (preferred).
+ A vibrant, Eucharist-centered Catholic faith and fidelity to Church teaching.
+ Passion for evangelization and forming intentional disciples.
+ Familiarity with the Life Teen movement.
+ Strong presentation, relational, and communication skills.
+ Organizational competence and administrative ability.
+ Ability to self-direct and manage responsibilities without heavy oversight.
