Director of Youth and EvangelizationAre you ready to embark on a thrilling journey of faith and growth? Our Lady of Lourdes seeks a passionate and dynamic Director of Youth and Evangelization to join our growing, vibrant parish!
Position Summary:
Director of Youth and Evangelization for Youth at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Greenwood, South Carolina leads youth and college students to encounter Christ, experience His mercy, and set the world on fire with His love. This leader will foster a thriving youth community, empowering young people to grow in faith and share it boldly. We need a creative, adaptable, and mission-driven disciple ready to inspire the next generation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary role: Create, coordinate, oversee, and lead ministry/outreach to middle school, high school, and college students.
• Responsible for overseeing ministry to middle school and high
school students.
• Organize and coordinate ministry for local college students.
• Recruit, train, and support teen CORE team and adult CORE team to
engage in relational ministry and disciple teens accompanying them
on their faith journey Assist Core leaders in their spiritual growth
• Plan and coordinate the Confirmation program, following all
Diocese guidelines
• Plan Confirmation retreat
• Develop and implement formation opportunities for youth post-
Confirmation
• Help DRE orchestrate Faith Formation registration for all participants
• Responsible for coordinating the logistics for all youth ministry
events (i.e. food, travel, setup/teardown, supplies, environment,
tech/A.V., etc.
• Plan to take teens to MS and HS Diocese Conferences, HS to
Steubenville Conference and college to Focus Conference
• Works in collaboration with other youth ministers in the deanery to
put on collaborative events (XLT's, community building, etc.)
• Directs the fundraising efforts for events and trips, including
Summer Camp and High School Purpose Retreats, and conferences.
• Foster involvement of young people in the life of the parish by
being involved in parish activities and collaborating with event
leaders to organize teen volunteers.
• Having a marketing plan in place for the events of the year.
• Responsible for running a consistent schedule over the summer for
high school/middle school youth to participate in (i.e., Bible Study,
Open Gym, Small Group Activities, and VBS, etc.)
• Have a plan for outreach to all youth and their families
• Assist the DRE to equip and support parents in their role as the first
catechist of their children.
• Be present to engage the people, especially young people after
Masses
• Foster a welcoming atmosphere in our parish through practicing
radical hospitality
• Maintain a clear and consistent channel of communication with the
Pastor
• Communicate with families through Flocknote as necessary,
including important program and event reminders.
• Submit bulletin announcements, website content, and Mass
announcements for programs routinely in coordination with the
DRE
• Have a marketing plan in place for the events of the year.
• Collaborate with the parish and staff on parish programs, ministries,
and planning related to middle school, high school, and college
students
• Attend parish staff meetings and any other meetings deemed
necessary by the supervisor.
Parish Life, Personal and Professional:
• Possess an active faith life and be able to translate it into action for
others.
• A Catholic in good standing, practicing and faithful to the
Sacraments.
• Deep prayer life and personal commitment to discipleship and
evangelization
• Must be knowledgeable and willing to support the mission and
vision of the Roman Catholic Church.
• A strong service orientation is critical
• Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities
in a fast-growing ministry.
• Exceptional communicator verbally and in writing with the ability to
connect authentically with teens, parents and volunteers.
Education and Experience:
• B.A. in Theology, Youth Ministry, Pastoral Ministry, Education, or
related field; possesses a strong knowledge of Catholic teachings,
catechesis, and documents on youth ministry. The ideal candidate
will be familiar with ministry to Middle School and High School
students.
• Language Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills;
proficiency in composing reports, correspondence, and letters and
publishing e-newsletters and flyers; ability to read and understand
church documents and guidelines. Bilingual Spanish language skills
would be helpful.
• Ability to read, prepare, and manage budgets for significant events
and programs; prepare an annual budget for youth and college
ministry.
• Proficient in Flocknotes, Google platform, social media, etc.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve problems, make sound decisions,
and deal with a variety of variables.
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee must be able
to transport materials and equipment (up to 30 pounds) to and
from locations.
• Must be physically present in the office to complete office tasks (but
should expect to work most weekends and many evenings), but
available to work outside regular business hours as required for
youth ministry events and activities
• Check in with and provide calendar to administrative assistance
• Must be able to work cooperatively with other members of the staff
and youth leaders and volunteers.
