Director of Marketing and Communications
Dominican Friars Foundation
Dominican Friars of the Province of Saint Joseph
Location: New York, NY

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Dominican Friars Foundation is looking to hire a passionate and experienced marketing and communications professional to support the Dominican mission of preaching for the salvation of souls. The Director of Marketing and Communications will use a data-driven approach to develop and execute a comprehensive communications and engagement strategy (print and digital) to share the impact of the Dominican mission, inspire engagement, and deepen supporters' connection to the Province.

The Director of Marketing and Communications will report to the Executive Director, Fr. John Paul Kern, O.P., and will have the following four primary responsibilities:

- Marketing and Communications Strategy, including storytelling, audience expansion, and donor conversion (50%)
- Brand Management (5%)
- Management and support of three direct reports who coordinate direct mail appeals, write copy, create content, edit our quarterly magazine, and manage social media (30%)
- Public Relations, both internal and external to the Dominican Friars (15%)

QUALIFICATIONS

1.) Faithfully Catholic
- The person holding this position will represent the Dominican Friars in public, will bear witness to the Catholic faith, and will occasionally lead others in prayer. Applicants must be practicing Catholics in good standing who assent to and profess the Catholic faith in its entirety as presented in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
- Passionate about the Dominican mission and charism, can articulate the "Dominican Difference" clearly
- Personal knowledge of the Dominican Friars or another religious community would be a plus

2.) Team Player
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop relationships of trust and respect with Friars, colleagues, and donors
- Good work ethic with a continued willingness to learn and grow

3.) Strong Marketing Experience
- Strong fundraising, marketing, communications, and branding acumen
- Proven results in creating and managing multi-channel fundraising-focused campaigns, including direct mail and direct response appeals, digital appeals, and integrated multi-channel donor engagement strategies
- Proven ability to align fundraising communications with broader advancement goals, ensuring consistent messaging and effective storytelling across platforms
- Substantial experience in digital marketing, ideally within a medium-sized nonprofit organization, with the ability to design and implement an effective marketing funnel to grow the donor base, deepen engagement, and enhance financial support through compelling appeals and personalized outreach
- Experience overseeing websites, social media, and digital marketing tools such as Google AdWords and Google Analytics
- History of setting, tracking, and analyzing clear and measurable metrics to inform strategy, measure impact, and maximize ROI of marketing spend
- Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (Pardot) or willingness to acquire
- Basic graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Cloud) or willingness to acquire
- Detail-oriented and able to serve as the point of ultimate responsibility for all external communications, ensuring timely and accurate communications with a consistent voice and message

4.) Capable Manager
- Strong project management experience, including robust organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and the capability to coordinate multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Significant experience in hiring, managing, mentoring, and inspiring staff, including employees, contractors, and vendors, some of whom work remotely
- Ability to foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages creativity and improvement

IMPORTANT NOTES

This position is full-time, salaried, with a full benefits package (including health and dental insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, a generous 403(b) retirement plan match, FSA, and commuter benefits), and requires that the candidate live within commuting distance of our offices on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

The salary for an average candidate for this position will likely fall into the $100,000-125,000 range, but may be flexible for a truly exceptional candidate. Bachelor's degree and 5-10 years of relevant experience required.
