Director of Facilities and MaintenanceCathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church - Tyler TX
Position Summary
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is seeking a qualified and mission-driven individual to oversee the care, maintenance, and long-term stewardship of parish buildings and grounds. This is a full-time position, reports to the Pastor, and works closely with parish staff, volunteers, and outside contractors.
Primary Responsibilities
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and cleanliness of all parish buildings and grounds.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
• Supervise maintenance staff and coordinate volunteers as appropriate
• Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and diocesan policies
• Assist with capital projects, renovations, and long-range facilities planning
• Monitor facilities budgets and control expenses responsibly
• Support parish liturgical and special events by ensuring facilities readiness
Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in facilities management or building maintenance
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
• Strong organizational, supervisory, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to emergencies
• Respect for and support of the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
• Prior experience in a parish, school, or nonprofit setting preferred
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or degree preferred
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift, climb, and perform physical tasks associated with facilities work
Compensation
Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and qualifications, in accordance with diocesan guidelines.
