Job Description

St. Philip Catholic Church in Falls Church, VA is looking for a full-time DRE. The candidate must be a practicing Roman Catholic and should have a degree or equivalent experience in catechetics with a sound knowledge of Catholic Church theology and history. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a required. This salaried position requires Sunday morning and some evening hours for classes and programming. Hours are flexible around the programming.

The DRE works with the Pastor to plan a comprehensive parish program of faith formation including brainstorming on new ways to involve parents more deeply in the Religious Education of their children. The DRE coordinates with Director of Youth Ministry, Director of Music, office staff, and other parish employees and volunteers to implement this program.

Religious Education Programs at St. Philip include, but are not limited to:
- Children's Religious Education
- RICA (Eng)/ OCIA (Hisp) for Adult Religious Education
- SPRED (Special Religious Education)
- Catechists/Volunteers training, planning, workshops
- AFC (Athletes for Christ) one-week Summer camp

Other duties include but are not limited to:
- Meetings with Catechists, Parents, Pastor, and Diocese
- Teaching and/or prepping RE sessions, RICA, SPRED
- Oversee coordinators (paid or volunteer) to assist with program implementation and/or volunteers who directly minister in the various faith formation programs
- Administrative duties such as registrations, planning, Sacrament forms, Diocesan reports

Candidates must:
- Be a practicing Catholic in good standing and compliant the Arlington Diocese Employment requirements.
- Possess the credentials necessary for this position (Master's in Religious Education, Theology, Catechetics, or related field, or possess and maintain Master Catechists Certification) and be willing to continue professional development and attend diocesan training events.
- Be bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Have a willingness to brainstorm on new ways to involve parents more deeply in the Religious Education of their children.
- Be proficient in standard software as well as hold excellent organization and communication skills.
