Job Description
To be considered for this position, candidates should reside within the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Texas area, as occasional in-person meetings or events may be required.Position Overview:
The Communications Assistant will report directly to the Director of Marketing and is responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance the organization's public image and engage target audiences through social media, and other digital channels, while assisting with email newsletters. This role collaborates with the marketing team to create compelling content that reflects the organization's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
• Social Media Management:
o Develop, schedule, and publish daily content across multiple social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.).
o Monitor social media trends and analytics, adjusting strategies to optimize engagement and reach.
o Respond to comments and inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
• Content Creation & Management:
o Collaborate with team members to develop content that aligns with organizational priorities.
o Ensure that all communications are consistent with brand guidelines and organizational tone.
• Email Communications:
o Assist with design, writing, and distributing regular email newsletters and updates to subscribers.
o Assist with email marketing campaigns, ensuring high deliverability and engagement rates.
o Analyze email performance metrics and generate reports to inform strategy improvements.
Qualifications:
• Practices Catholic faith.
• Resides within the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Texas.
• Has at least 2+ years of experience in social media management and email marketing.
• Possesses strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Exhibits excellent fluency and outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
• Demonstrates knowledge of digital analytics tools (e.g., social media insights).
• Is proficient in MS Office, Canva, Constant Contact, and a preferred choice of video editing software.
• Maintains excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred:
• Is bilingual, demonstrating fluency and strong grammar capabilities in Spanish.
• Has experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
Hours/Salary/Benefits:
• 15-20 hours per week
• Flexible hours

• Salary commensurate with experience.
