Job Description
The Hispanic Ministry Coordinator reports to the Director of Missionary Discipleship and works to form disciples who Seek First the Kingdom of God among the Spanish speaking people of the Diocese of Grand Island.Duties and Responsibilities:
• Implement the National Pastor Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministry throughout the diocese
• Participate in USCCB Region IX meetings, conferences and leadership gatherings for Hispanic/Latino ministry
• Stay current on government policy developments and initiatives of the USCCB Office of Hispanic/Latino Affairs
• Assess the current status of pastoral needs for the Hispanic community throughout the diocese
• Meet with pastors regularly to support the specific needs for Spanish ministry in their parish(es)
• Provide resources and training to equip individuals and parishes with liturgical, catechetical and other pastoral competencies
• Collaborate with the Director of Missionary Discipleship to form disciples in the Hispanic/Latino Community who Seek first the Kingdom of God
• Together with the Director of Missionary Discipleship, develop an annual budget and track it
• Work with the Director of Stewardship and Development to secure funding for Hispanic/Latino ministry training and program development
• Regularly advise the Bishop on the status of Hispanic/Latino ministry in the diocese
Qualifications and Skills:
• Must be bilingual, competent to speak and translate both English and Spanish
• Preferably has a master's degree in theology
• Must have a bachelor's degree, preferably in philosophy, theology, lay ministry, education, or a certificate in pastoral ministry
• Must have at least 5 years of work experience in either diocesan or parish ministry, or both.
• Must be willing to pursue further education, training and ministry development.
• Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a diversity of people.
