POSITION SUMMARY
The University of Providence seeks a dedicated and compassionate individual to serve as its University Chaplain-a vital spiritual leader and ministerial presence within our vibrant campus community. The Chaplain is entrusted with providing essential sacramental and pastoral care to students, faculty, and staff; fostering a rich Catholic faith life; and actively promoting the university's mission in alignment with the traditions of the Catholic Church.
This is a live-on position with a comprehensive compensation package that includes salary, room, and board. To support personal well-being and spiritual renewal, the Chaplain will receive two "days away" per week, which may include Saturdays and another mutually agreed-upon day (e.g., Monday or Friday).

RESPONSIBILITIES
Sacramental Ministry
• Celebrate the Eucharist at Sunday liturgies, including two weekly Sunday liturgies during the spring and fall semesters, and one weekly Sunday liturgy during summer and academic breaks.
• Offer weekday Masses throughout the fall and spring semesters.
• Provide the Sacrament of Reconciliation on a weekly basis at Trinitas Chapel during the fall and spring semesters.
• Administer the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Baptism, Confirmation, and Anointing of the Sick as needed to members of the university community.

Oversight of Chapel
• Ensure Trinitas Chapel is meticulously prepared and maintained for all worship services and spiritual activities.
• Coordinate and oversee all liturgical celebrations and special events, including holy days, retreats, and various prayer services.

Pastoral Care
• Offer compassionate spiritual guidance and counseling to students, faculty, and staff, providing support and a listening presence.
• Develop and lead engaging faith formation programs, such as retreats, Bible studies, and prayer groups, to deepen spiritual understanding and practice.
• Serve as the key liaison for the Argo Athletics Chaplaincy Program, supporting the spiritual needs of student-athletes.

Community Engagement
• Collaborate effectively with campus ministry partners, local parishes, and broader community organizations to support outreach initiatives.
• Foster a robust culture of faith, service, and social justice within the university community.
• Work closely with Campus Ministry staff and student leaders to actively promote and enhance spiritual life on campus.

Administrative Duties
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of sacramental celebrations and pastoral care interactions.
• Participate in regular meetings with Campus Ministry and other relevant university departments to ensure the seamless integration of faith into all aspects of university life.

EDUCATION:
• Master's degree in Theology, Ministry, Pastoral Care, or a related field is required.

EXPERIENCE:
• Must be an Ordained Roman Catholic Priest in good standing with the local ordinary.
• Demonstrated strong understanding of and unwavering commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Experience in campus ministry or a related field is preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to engage effectively and compassionately with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
