Position Title: School Maintenance

Reports To: Principal

Position Summary:
To maintain the buildings and grounds of the school to provide a safe and functional learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

General Maintenance
Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and fixtures
Maintain doors, locks, and hardware
Assist with classroom furniture repairs and setup
Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment for school events
Maintain storage areas and maintenance equipment
Assist with summer maintenance projects
Grounds and Exterior Care
Basic grounds upkeep (trash removal, minor landscaping)
Maintain playground surfaces and fencing
Monitor parking lots, sidewalks, and exterior lighting
Assist with storm preparation and clean up.

School Maintenance
Set safety cones and barricades in parking lot on school days
Repair basic plumbing, electrical, and painting projects
Gather bids for repairs or projects
Assist with accident response and documentation.
Clean up accidents.
Perform preventive maintenance on basic equipment
Maintain records of inspections and work orders
Inventory and order janitorial supplies
Empty trash cans/recycle containers
Snow and ice removal from sidewalks and walkways
Oversee fire inspections, alarms, and extinguishers.
Liaison for janitorial, maintenance, appliance, groundskeeping contracts

School Safety
Perform weekly inspections of facilities and playground equipment
Monitor building security and report safety concerns
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemicals
Support accreditation inspections and documentation
Support emergency drills: Fire, Tornado, Intruder
Work with the IT Director to maintain the safety security systems:
o Door and gate locks
o Fire monitor systems
o AED Inspections
o Asbestos Inspections.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in general maintenance, facilities care, or related work
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Good communication skills.
